Two years later, Real Valladolid have won back the right to call themselves a La Liga club. Next season, once again, they will be venturing into the homes or Real Madrid, Barcelona and Rayo (!). They didn’t make it easy. Celta Vigo’s heavily predicted draw with Cordoba on the last day of the season meant that Valladolid fell into the lottery of the play-offs.
Last night though, as so often isn’t the case, the third place team won the two legged final against gutsy Alcorcon. A 1-0 win away at the Madrid (ish) based club in midweek put Djukic’s side firmly in the driving seat. Last night’s 1-1 draw ensured a 2-1 aggregate win.
So now we have the three up (Depor, Celta y Valladolid) and the three down (Racing, Sporting y Villarreal) we can start drooling about next season. It can’t come soon enough.
